About Us

Lighting Network is the largest group of independent retail lighting stores in Australia.  Currently there are 40 members operating through 42 stores.  The stores are located in eastern Australia from Cairns to Mount Gambier.

The original five members created the group in 1995 for a number of reasons. They wanted to achieve increased buying power beyond that available for individual stores, gain access to a larger product range of lighting and related products, and have an interchange of ideas, sales trends and technical solutions to lighting retail challenges. These principles remain a significant factor in the growth and credibility of the organisation.

Lighting Network has established a core of preferred suppliers to the group. Based upon sales to the group, rebates are provided to both individual Members and the Lighting Network Head Office. A Suppliers’ Exhibition is held in Sydney in August of each year. This exhibition gives members an opportunity to view current products, receive up-to-date product knowledge and develop valuable relationships with our preferred suppliers.

In association with the Suppliers’ Exhibition is the Annual General Meeting which provides members with an ideal networking opportunity and a forum to discuss current issues within our sector. We also have a General Meeting which for the past two years has been held in the Gold Coast in February of each year and incorporates some educational training sessions.

Membership is selective. We do not have more than one Member in a defined locality.

Lighting Network has achieved some significant milestones over the years.  We are hoping for further gains to be obtained in the future by increasing our member base.  This will give us much greater bargaining power and enable us to share our many benefits with other independent lighting stores.
